The 30 word rule is new. [IMG]
If you thought: "An interesting piece from the WSJ" "[IMG] " or "Read this" would pass for a summary then you are tripping balls on some bad acid right now and need to lock yourself in the pantry until you get some sense back.

there is no minimum word count per se, however it does state that a brief summary is requisite for starting a new thread. The manner in which the word brief is interpreted is entirely arbitrary.

This exactly reinforces the point I was making. The 30 word rule is new. [IMG]

    If you thought:
"An interesting piece from the WSJ"
    or
    "Read this"
would pass for a summary then you are tripping balls on some bad acid right now and need to lock yourself in the pantry until you get some sense back.

I would prefer that the rule not have to explicitly state how many words needed to be the in summary. During discussions around the time the general rule was implemented, Matt (iammatt) pointed out that the originally suggested 50 word rule might be onerous, so I adopted the more general language to give people leeway. This was about as successful as Communism (i.e. would have worked if everyone loved to dance like fairies in the daisies,) so we got what we have here. Incidentally, this little paragraph contains over 100 words. A 30 word minimum summary is onerous only to a 40 year old 1st grader.

Now, it's been a long ass day. Any more questions?

Okay, all that other stuff was cool, but I'm gonna have to pull rank on you here and lay down the kibosh. The answer is no. If anything, he is underrated.
