Yeah, the old automessage for time outs wasn't ideal imo. We've changed it recently.

Since we're raising money for RMH and ump tea em just dropped a TO-hammer and it's the Christmas spirit etc etc etc.... I'd like to remind the mods way back when there was the offer to have members TOd for X amount of money for Y amount of time.

I will make a $150 donation to have @Ataturk banned for two months. @LA Guy and @emptym

Dont any of you have an ignore button? I find it comical that people are seeking out these conflicts. I just stay out of the political threads. It isnt hard.

Ignore button works great, except when the ignored user and people quoting/arguing with them make up half of the posts in a thread you are trying to read.

And if a bunch of people are ignoring you, maybe it is a sign that you are a bit of a toxic voice in the community...

Totally agree with you on the ignored user showing up in quotes etc. Its not perfect. Also agree with you on number of people ignoring = a toxic voice. I guess most of my issues are with the increasing political voices/views/grudges spilling over into other threads.

For a member willing to donate money to ban another, I find that hard to swallow. It just seems wrong on many fronts.

Just my thoughts... I'll go back to my quiet self now

For the most part, it seems like there is only a single user where that is an issue.

If I wanted to ignore Ataturk or Ed, their posts would mostly just vanish. Occasionally, I'd probably see other peoples posts that made absolutely no sense without the context the ignored posts, but it wouldn't really be a big deal.

Maybe in stitches or Piobaire in their posting primes would have been a similar struggle to ignore, but it takes a certain combination of consistently combative attitude, frequent trolling, and high participation for it to actually be a problem.

Heh.

When it was floated the site was tons more active and there were far more characters to engage with and the donation-for-bans proposal was a bit tongue in cheek and also successful.
