Since I'm the "Suit" Guy

Since I'm the suit guy, I'm helping my friend source his wedding attire.
He's getting married/reception in the afternoon and is on a definite budget.
Talked him into the following so far:
navy suit (Benjamin Sartorial), black captoes (Allen Edmonds), white poplin spread collar (TM Lewin) = $750

He's now at the tie and I've recommended the wedding basics: houndstooth, sheppard's check , glen check. The only thing is that he doesn't want to spend the $85 or so for a nice tie. He wants to spend roughly $30 for a tie for himself and all groomsmen (as groomsmen presents). I don't know who makes ties in these basic patterns for that price. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also, if by chance anyone would know, where he can locate a double-breasted dove gray vest. I'm sorta stuck there too.

Thanks in advance. I'm trying to help get everything for him for a total under $1k. I think I could've done better on locating a suit in the FS section, but late notice.

There's the tie bar (http://www.thetiebar.com/), which sells ties around $15, and they're supposed to be good value for money (the guy from Putthison said they're the same quality as a tie 2 - 4 times as expensive, but then wonders if that constitutes a tie worth owning). I'm sure they've got some ties that could pass for a wedding tie.

Check out Favourbrook online (www.favourbrook.com) for waistcoats. Looks like pretty nice stuff, Will at ASW recommends them, and they're not too out to lunch price-wise.

As far as brick and mortar stores go, try Brooks Brothers Outlet. I recall seeing a number of ties in these patterns. The marked price is misleading, as they always seem to have "30% off everything" signs of some sort up to get down to your budget.

I also saw a bunch of houndstooth and glen plaid ties at Nordstrom Rack. These were Ben Sherman ties, though a bit narrow for my taste - maybe 3-3.25 inches in width. In addition the problem with Nordstrom Rack is that it might be difficult to get enough for all the groomsmen, without going to a number of different Rack stores.

+1 for tiebar, sounds about the only place you can hit your budget on the ties.

You may even find the ties at a Marhall's/ TJ Maxx/ Filene's Basement if you are lucky.
