How is that simple? It's different from suit to suit. Do you buy your own clothes? Don't you know different brands have different sizing? A suit is very different from a T-shirt.

What does this question have to do with furniture?

the simple answer is that in most cases a 42r is 2" bigger in the chest then a 40" regular - for the same jacket, model brand etc.

Jackets tend to be 1"- 5" larger in the chest the chest measurement depending on the cut. So a 40r Oxxford could have a larger chest then a 42r RLPL. The Oxxford might measure out to a 45" chest and the RLPL might have a 43" chest.

So just a like a t-shirt you do have to ignore the tag and try them on.

Thank you for the insight. However, ordering online makes this somewhat difficult.

Yes and no - many places will give you some measurement to base your purchase on - ask if it is not listed. Also if you can when you are trying on lothes note the brand, model etc and make mental note on fit, to help you when you are later shopping on line. This may have to wait until you travel etc.

Most online stores have a good return policy (make sure they do) then order away, at worst you loose the return shippin cost a t a place like STP.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
