"Similar Threads"?

Just curious, does anyone here actually make use of the new "Similar Threads" feature? It's sort of interesting, but half the threads it shows are way back from 2004.

I upped the level to which they have to match, but it still sometimes gives ridiculous results. If it turns out to be useless all the time, I'll turn it off again, but in the meantime, a lot of information hasn't changed since 2004.

Well, the thing I worry about is new posters having a tendency to revive really old threads.

I don't know whether that's such a bad thing... would we rather have 10,000 short threads about 200 subjects, or 200 long threads?

How come it's also automatically adding mini-subject lines to replies?

I'm all for well-detailed, mile-long threads. All your questions in one spot.

Because I just turned that on when I noticed it wasn't on for some reason. It helps the pages show up better (more accurately) on search engines if the (relevant) subject line is repeated within the body of the page.

Oh yes, many more. I am working on a new install of the new version of the forum software right now, on a new server. It should be better, stronger, faster. And look cooler, hopefully. Stay tuned.

Oh, God. TS isn't involved in any way, shape, or form is he? He's already gone "gimp." Seriously, I'm looking forward to the new stuff. I think "similar threads" will really prove useful in the long run.
