I'm only going to be using them for a night, so I'm trying to go about this experimental project as cheap as possible, but at the same time still be able to look half-decent. I've searched for silver dress shoes and I've found a few, but really nothing to even consider that was less then $200. Again, since they're only for one night, I thought I would try and make them myself... I plan on using this shoe kit to shine them a metallic/silver color: http://www.shoeshinekit.com/tameco.html I need a pretty solid silver color, shiny and metallic works as well. Do you think it would be better to just spray paint the shoes? (those robot-performers by Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco come to mind - but I'm not sure spray paint will work as well on leather shoes). Any tips before I go about this process? Lastly, any suggestions for cheap, simple (ie no wingtips, designs), and preferably slim dress shoes I can experiment with? I don't mind picking something off ebay, I just need suggestions. Thanks.

I suggest you get the cheapest pair you can get from DSW or any of those shoes on sale stores and yeah, just spray them. I'm pretty sure the spray paint can last the night. Oh, and post pix!

Right, get a pair of cheap shoes so you can safely try it on just in case something goes wrong with your experiment. I'd also be interested in knowing how that went for you
