Is it possible to lengthen jeans? As in, taking jeans with a 29" inseam and getting them to a 30" or 31"? I know it's possible to get an inch or so extra from my suit pants to go from a 30 to 31, so is this possible with the length of jeans? Anyone had this done? What were your results?

You can't really do this unless you are willing to have the heavily modded jeans look, meaning unhemmed hems. I guess you could get another inch or so with this method. Your hems would look completely destroyed though.

The only other option I can think of is to try to stretch the denim back out, and avoid washing at all costs. You would have to hang the jeans up and weigh the legs down. Drawn and quartered style.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. I love jeans but I hate them because of all of the variables you have to take into account.

Right now, I have a few pairs of jeans that fit just like I want them (just off the ground), but due to shrinkage from washing and one toss in the dryer, I also have jeans that are anywhere from .5" off the ground to nearly an inch and a half off the ground with my boots on (1.5" heel). Is this too high? Will they look like highwaters or does this fall within the acceptable range of jeans length by today's standards?

I think your best bet is to wait until Thom Browne does a streetwear collection.

Don't wait. You can rock the look right now. Complete confidence is key.

"Yo, why are your jeans so short?"
"You haven't heard? Short fit is in. Proper fit is out. Your whole look is so five minutes ago."

you can gain half an inch. the hem would be let down and pressed out. then a small fine rolled hem would be sewn in. only problem, the wear at the old hems bottom would show.
