Pure silk, probably not, as pure-silk scarves tend to give off a "I'm-wearing-this-purely-as-a-decorative-(non-functional)-accessory" vibe.

Silk blended with cashmere/wool/cotton/whatever as a means to keep warm against the cold in winter, I have tons of that, including by Hermès. No gay glances so far, only admiring comments. (I admit I don't wear them with velvet blazers though.)

saint Laurent scarves are the best, the baby cat silk one or the red and black striped long wool wone, or fair isle scarf

If a pure silk scarf is large, you can fold it. The look is different than a chachemere-silk scarf, sometime it may be more elegant, if well matching your dress, Folded, silk it's surprisingly warm in the winter. If you use it in a more free way, if you can fold less, it may be more fresh.
Silk is a surprising matherial and not so many people know it.
