I’m looking for my first navy grenadine tie and am undecided on Garza Grossa or Garza Fina which one do you prefer

Gross - less formal and adds more visual interest.
Fina just totally misses it for me - it tries to be ins between formal and casual and fails at both.

P.S. I mostly wear ties with sport coats and odd pants. Almost never wear suits, except formal occasions. And even then my suits are more casual - soft shoulders, patch pockets. So I don't really have a place for a smooth silk ties in my wardrobe

You’re not going to go wrong with either. Since you probably already have a bunch of smooth silk ties go with the grossa to change things up. You can absolutely wear it with a suit, so don’t worry too much about it being a very slight step down in formality from the fina. Normal people don’t notice that stuff anyway.

I concur with @Father Style, both are attractive and interesting, you can't go wrong with either.

I also would choose Garza Grossa for more texture and interest.

Thank you all for your really helpful comments it’s much appreciated
Finally ordered the Garza Grossa from Brunati Como they have 30% off at the moment code BLACKWEEK
Went for the blue colour not navy as the latter looked black in some lights whereas the blue is a very distinct colour in all lights

Good shout.
I love Fina but the threads can come off easily after a while, Grossa is more solid, in my experience.

Visible Pick Stitching on Lapels and Pockets

  • It’s a mark of quality and craftsmanship

  • I like it when it’s subtle

  • I don’t like visible stitching

  • Doesn’t matter to me
