Side adjusters with braces?

I'm about to get another suit made, and I realized that I never actually use the side adjusters on my pants. Well, I usually keep them tucked in a little bit, I never wear the pants without the suspenders. It just seems to add bulk to the waist and hips.

I'm thinking about going adjuster-less (maybe with a short fishtail) on the next set, but is this something I really want to do?

And what's the deal with this? (borrowed from another thread)

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Will, I'm a fan of your blog. I'm going to delete the adjusters from the next suit.

You wouldn't happen to have or know of a good picture of a relatively modest english back that I can pass along to my tailor, would you (or anyone else)?

Thanks again.

I like the look of a rear strap with high back trousers. It is useless, but it sort of completes the look for me.

I just got these made.

I could try to take some other pictures if you need.

As indicated above, the side adjusters are probably superfluous and unnecessary.

This Corvato's way to do the English back trouser. He learned it from Brooks Brothers who copied it from Savile Row. The height is abridged and I think the other English backs are too precious (even more precious without the rear or side adjusters). I found these trousers to be comfortable standing but not for sitting. You need to remember to adjust your braces or risk jamming something even more precious. It is interesting to note that these pants were recently reworked to a normal style waist band with side adjusters. Our Mr. Corvato is a marvel.

I 100% absolutely have to agree with this super strongly.

Except that, IMO, the look of a rear strap and side straps (two buttons instead of a buckle for each strap as it is less bulky, better fit and comfort, better appearance, better shape and/or drape, an mount of width adjustment that is just right for weight fluctuation, etcetera) really completes the look the most.

This is one of those things that I consider "tailor's choice" and I have pairs of high-back trousers with either no strap, center straps or side straps, whichever the tailor preferred. I don't much care, but if I had to choose, I would take center strap.

Me, too, except I marginally prefer the side straps. I find that it helps keep the shirt tucked in.

A fishtail back is full commitment to two things: suspenders and a jacket.

Given that, why not indulge in the delight of losing all unnecessary utility?

I lose both the adjusters and back pockets in this case, and find that it creates a great, smooth line.

Wouldn't a buckle in that position dig into your back? Just curious as I'm a belt guy.
