Is EG cheaper to get in Japan? I'll be in Osaka next month and I'm thinking of dropping by the Nepenthes branch there.
Eg is more expensive in Japan generally. Would buy there only if it’s exclusive to store.

I think it tends to be a bit more expensive in Japan. If you have time, I recommend checking out those 2nd hand stores, found a lot of good stuff

What do you think about the Madison Parka? I tried it on briefly earlier in the season, but never really formulated an opinion.
My favourite EG outerwear piece, not really full of details like EG jackets used to be, but I feel EG is getting less and less detailed, but I really love the oversized fit and how versatile it is.
I also higly recommend getting it in one of the wool fabrics, feels like wearing a portable home made of blanket, super comfortable.

But don't expect "steals" in pricing. 2nd hand can still be quite spendy.

I don’t know what the pricing is in Japan, but the overwhelming majority of the EG line is produced in NYC. Hard to imagine it will be cheaper in Japan.

From what I've seen on Japanese web stores its more expensive, guess b/c of duties and shipping. For years I thought there was a production site in Japan, too...

Fair enough. I believe I tried on the same cloth as yours. It certainly was oversized and did not have all the bells and whistles of a typical EG coat. You wear it well.

Can someone explain the second hand market in Japan? I’ve heard that wearing used clothing is considered weird or looked down on in general; that there are no true thrift or charity stores, only resell shops comparable to like a more expensive Buffalo Exchange where the employees know what they’re selling.

Also, even the oldest eBay items coming out of Japan seem to all be priced from $450-600. Why!

Most of the ebay listings coming from Japan are drop shoppers flipping product from YJP or Rakuten.

Ah, that makes sense. I’ve seen some American drop shippers do this. It’s still confusing as the prices are so far above market.

Yeah it’s for sure a simple design, compared to highland parka for example. But the big silhouette makes the parka really great, works well layered over many layers or even other outerwear without looking bulky.
Thanks, much appreciated.
