Query on fit of Bedford jacket from different seasons.

I own two Bedfords in ripstop from SS2021. I found that the fit is roomier than previous SS.
Last week I just received two more Bedfords in Herringbone from Cultizm and I found that the fit is too snug fit like the ones prior to 2021.

Does anybody experience the same problem? Is it possible that the ones I got from Cultizm are from the old season?

i think this seasons bedfords are smaller than the last few seasons but bigger than the slimmer bedfords of 6-8 years ago

Sort of related question, does the NB jacket fit bigger than the Bedford?

Per experience with FW21 collection, the NB is a lesser casual version of the Bedford. Its slightly slimmer and a tad longer. Also, some of the details like stitching around the shoulder area removeable buttons are not present on the NB.

Not sure where to post this, so it's gonna go here... SS 23 EG is sick. Shooting some styled shots/editorial in about 30 minutes, but wanted to plug right off the bat since I know a handful of you look here first.

Some highlights: fatigues fit great this season, camp shirts are extremely lightweight and are going to be the perfect piece for all you trying to do some hot guy summer type ****, and workshirts are back in lovely pastels as to be expected.

hmm, this seems to go against what I’ve seen in terms of measurements for the NB from this season- Garbstore has the size L moleskin NB as measuring 61cm across the chest? That’s bigger than size L Bedford this season, no?

I'm curious about fit too. I might buy from a place with free returns next season, so that I can finally compare.

When it comes to measurements, some shops are more accurate than others. I find shops in Japan to be consistent. I used to check out reggieshop for measurements and fit, although they don't stock larger sizes these days.

Here's measurements from them:

Bedford (Uniform Serge)
Length Width Shoulder Sleeve
XS 70cm 51cm 45cm 61cm
S 72cm 53cm 47cm 63cm
M 74cm 57cm 49cm 65cm

NB (Moleskin)
Length Width Shoulder Sleeve
XS 68cm 52cm 45cm 58cm
S 71cm 56cm 46cm 60cm
M 73cm 60cm 49cm 63cm

According to these measurements, the NB is wider; the Bedford is longer; shoulders are identical.

But width measurement is deceiving, as it's based on where the armholes drop. Some shops measure from pit to pit, while others measure an inch to a few down from pits. If the armholes are smaller, then chest width and sleeve length measurements are typically bigger. If armholes are bigger, then they're both typically smaller.

In short, to state the obvious, you can't always tell the fit of something based on measurements.

Also fyi the NB has buttons going up the back this FW season.

Daiki was unsure of the direction the Bedford Jacket was going and was torn between making it more workwear or going the opposite direction to a smarter-style jacket. So he made the NB to fit the smart/casual style while the Bedford went in a more workwear direction ie boxier fit.

I've found that the NB is one inch smaller in the shoulder and pit to pit compared to its equivalent size in Bedford for most of the past seasons. Overall it's slimmer. But slightly longer.

Now comparing an NB to a Bedford from different seasons, you are only going to get confused. As the sizes do change, season to season.

As a further side note, the fabric does make a difference. The poly wool NB from last winter for example came up smaller than other fabrics, probably due to the thickness of the fabric. taking more space.

A good article about the two jackets, although it doesn't go much into fit:

Thanks all. It’s a bit of a dilemna really as it’s now looking like a size up might even be necessary in the NB for me to get the desired fit. It’s probably not helped by the fact that I’m now wondering if my Bedfords (Ls from recent larger seasons and XL from older, smaller seasons) are a bit smaller than I’d like them to be, although this could just be xmas/ winter excesses not being shifted yet.

I guess I really need to try a couple on for the sake of comparison.
