FW20 starting to trickle in on Japanese websites. Nothing too special so far. Just cord bedfords, herringbone fatigues, and a longer version of the logger jacket.

First(?) non-Japanese store to have some FW20 stuff in stock. The shoulder vests are back.

Has anyone mentioned the increased use of synthetic fabrics in recent seasons?

For example, the FW19 Gun Club fabric was 45% Wool, 30% Poly, 25% Cotton.

The Gun Club fabric for FW20 is 50% Acrylic, 25% Polyester, 20% Wool, 5% Other Fibers.

We went from 70% to 20% Natural Fibers in one season. This is a trend I've noticed in general as Synethic Fabrics creep their way into more patterns. It feels like a few years ago the majority of EG collections were predominantly Cotton, Wool, or Linen lightly blended with Synethics (and higher quality fabrics overall).

Anybody have the inside scoop?

Depends on your attitude to synthetics as to whether thats a good or bad thing, I guess.

Just to balance out your two data points if you're trying to look for trends, the AW18 gun club fabric was 60% Poly, 27% Wool and 13% Acrylic.

Picked them up from Mr. Porters a few years ago and they're just named generically trousers. Thanks!

Synthetic fabrics... Anybody have the inside scoop?

I don’t, but I noticed it as well. My main concern is the heat — are the jackets hotter than usual? Living in a sweltering place, a big draw has always been the breezy nature of their clothing.

Pre- Style Forum, I always associated synthetics with cheaper clothing. Here, there’s always been a decent amount of people talking about high quality, proprietary, thoughtful (lol) “tech blends”. But when it comes down to it, the ingredient list always seems to come back to ‘polyester’, and it seems more likely they’re using cheap fabrics rather than paying a mad genius to improve upon nature in a futuristic lab.
