Shoulder alteration?

is it possible to alter the shoulder seams to gain some room (.5 inch)? I'm a comfortable 22" shoulder (seam to seam) but came across a very nice Isaia that has a 21.5" shoulder.

For you tailors out there, is there any magic that can be done to gain the .5 inch or should I stick with looking for a 22"?

while I won't comment on the tailoring aspect, you will find that depending on the cut, some smaller shoulder width jackets might fit you quite well

my tailor back at home told me when I asked that it can be done providing that there is enough material in the shoulders that was folded underneath. However, more likely than not the shoulder will not come out perfect and you'll have made a costly learning experience. I'd stick to looking for the right size or looking for a different coat altogether.
