Should these be polished?

Long time lurker, first time poster. I had a quick question concerning the care of a new pair of Church's Tunbridge loafers I was recently gifted. They are not quite patent leather and not as porous as a typical leather shoe so I'm at a loss as to how I should care for them. You can take a look at them here. Typically, i'll have new shoes shined after the first day of wear. With these, however, I feel that I should just be able to wipe them down with a moist, soft cloth when I enviably get them covered in Chicago road salt. Thoughts?

Indeed I have. Is that supposed to tell me something about how I should care for these?

Yes, don't polish. Dump into trash can (sorry!)!

I'm not familiar with these, but I'm assuming the finish is artificial. If that's the case, they may not take polish well -- that's one of the downsides to such finishes. So you can wipe them down, but they're likely to scuff as well, and the wiping won't take care of that. You may have to polish them the best you can.

I'd try to polish them before wearing. Can't hurt, will tell you how well they take polish, and might give you a little extra protection from the elements.

So I asked my shoe shine guy and he said it's a factory finish and that it will polish up just fine. Of course he's not exactly a non biased opinion..I'll give it a shot whenever I get a chance to wear them.

@Golfnerd: Ive got these in reddish/brown and they look quite nice with jeans.. Of course I'm a staunch advocate of the anti-collar popping movement so perhaps we just have different taste.

But in all seriouness thanks for the input guys.
