Should sewed up breast pockets be unstitched?

I always unstitch the breast pocket. Meanwhile, some recommend leaving the other (outside) pockets stitched to help the jacket keep its shape. I've done so on the last suit I bought just because otherwise I tend to cram too much useless crap in my pockets. I've found that the inside pockets are enough for my essentials.

I've never put anything in an outside pocket on a suit, but I always have the breast pocket unstitched. Seems like a no brainer.

An assertion which I've never understood - aren't there 3 other stitched sides in each pocket to help the 'jacket keep its shape'?

True, yet I've seen guys with sad looking jackets that droop at the sides, probably as a result of overstuffing their pockets or awalking around with their hands in them. Who knows? Anyhow, while I don't always wear a ps, leaving the breast pocket stitched is sorta like leaving the vent(s) tacked and the basting thread (?) on the shoulders.

Isn't the only reason not to open the pockets so you can put the tags back on and sell it new never worn?

OPEN the damn pockets.

Lets see, its good to have working sleeve buttons, which aren't really useful, but not good to have working pockets, which are?

They're POCKETS. Correct me if I'm wrong, experts, but a lot of the parts of the suit is tacked closed for shipping and storage reasons only?

I unstich them so I can put keys, smokes, credit cards, and birdseed in them.

I own upwards of 20 jackets (? Just a guess) between suits and sports coats. If you figure that each jacket has 3 outside pockets (a couple have ticket pockets, so that's four) and an average of 3 or 4 inside pockets, that's well over 100 pockets.

I'm willing to bet that there is not a single one of those that hasn't been used for something at one time or another.
