I just brought a vintage coat from Ebay for 100 GBP

It's made from wool with full canvas and lining
It's pretty old and quite dirty, especially in the sleeve lining

so my question is: should I bring it to a dry cleaner to clean it or can I just hand wash it on my own? I ask this because I'm afraid dry cleaning may destroy the fabric. So what do you think?

If the fabric is so ragged that dry cleaning would destroy it, then it will likely be destroyed by hand washing or just wearing a few times.

That coat needs a deep cleaning to rid it of any critters and odors before even considering introducing it into your closet.

Take it to a trusted dry cleaner.
