Several times I have felt the urge to post something before I wear it in order to get feedback and solicit opinions. I realize that since posting things before they are actually worn opens up the possibility of making any number of changes, it is possible to get too bogged down in nitpicking and personal preferences. Nevertheless, perhaps this thread can give people an opportunity to seek advice before any public display is committed to. I will attempt to not only post pictures of potential fits, but also to give some context in which it is to be worn. This might help in the critique process. I recommend anyone posting fits in here to do the same.

    Calling on the hardcore advice givers: @Claghorn , @Pliny , @An Acute Style , @Coxsackie , @GBR , @Murlsquirl , @Veremund , @EliodA , @Mr. Six , @LA Guy ,

Potential fit for an early dinner tonight at an Italian restaurant. Jacket is linen/cotton, to be worn with light gray linen/cotton trousers.

    Should I wear this?

I'm not sure if I like the choice (color, not the fact it's knit etc.)

Yeah, that's exactly what my first impression was. I was ok with green, but would prefer a deeper shade of it.

Do you have a maroon/burgundy knit, too? That could look nice.

I have a darker green knit. Not sure if I have a burgundy knit, but I know I have several burgundy ties. I'll have to see what they look like. Might post follow on pics.

It looks fine to me, although the colours are all a bit autumnal rather than midsummer, they come together well.

I wish you'd asked our advice before posting pictures of yourself in shorts. My response would be diametrically opposite to my comments above!:)

Yeah, some things cannot be unseen, I know. Probably not the last time I'll do it though!

Do you have a navy knit? That would work well. The darker green looks good too.

I do have a navy but I don't want to get too far into the weeds with the tie selection. I think I'll go with the darker green.

Love the second option, possibly like the third, not a fan of the first (tie is too bright).

I wonder how the second would look with a white/off white shirt or simply a less blue shirt (striped?)

Hmmm, that's intriguing. I wouldn't normally have reached for a white shirt here as I usually reserve those for high contrast jackets such as navy or charcoal. Might look good though. I'll have to check it out before I go out tonight.

A white shirt will let the green pop, especially given the colors in the p square. As it is summer, the Blue shirt makes it look Fall seasonal where the Navy knit would be the call. Stick with the knit ties and the light grey trouser.
Thank you for your sartorial splendor.

I love the vibrant green tie in the first picture but the darker green also looks very nice. I've seen Simon Crompton of Permanant Style in a similar rig, albeit with cream gaberdines and a yellow pocket square.
