I had a similar issue with JM Weston sizing. In trying to track down a pair of the 3x sole wingtip derby's, I had to buy 4 Freaking Pairs before I found a pair that fit right.

Pair #1: 8D= US 9++ (too big).
Pair #2: 6 1/2D= US 7 1/2D- 8D (too small).
Pair #3: 7 1/2D= US 9 (STILL too big).
Pair #4: 7E= 8 1/2D (Just right!).

that 1/2 size can really hurt your feet & no matter how nice the shoes are, it's crazy to keep a pair of shoes that don't fit. I think.

For an oxford definitely a solid choice. My favorites of theirs are probably the Chukkas, but that's just me.
