Should I size down on my RRL Low Straight, picture included...

The story is I bought a pair of RRL Low Straight in 30x30 from B&S not too long ago, just want to get some opinion from you guys as to whether I should size down to 29X30 (or even a bit longer so I can stack). I am suit crowd 99.9% of the time, so be gentle

Close in on the waist, this is part of the "problem" area

For comparison this is one of my dress pants, not the best fitting one ever, but good (hem is a bit too short and the guy took off a bit too much on the seat, ahh...) Front

So if you guys look at the 3rd picture on the waist, you can see plenty of room on both sides, and in reality, I can almost stick my whole fist into the back while still wearing it... Do you guys think some cold wash will get it down to the size I want or I should just go to 29x30 or 29x32. This is the rinse model, so I assume most of the shrinkage is already done. How much can I realistically shrink this. Also I have only been wearing this for 3 weeks so far, and only on Sat/Sun, don't think they would stretch much in such short amount of time. Ideally I would like to try 29x30 or 20x32 in person first, but they just don't carry size that small in either Liberty or Ralph Lauren (RRL section) in London. Alternatively can I try the sizing in PRL jeans? Do they fit similar in anyway or it's just completely different ball game. So comments guys?

waist looks at least 2-3 inches too big and i'm guessing the denim will stretch between 1-2 inches so, yes i'd size down.

i would size down ... raws will def stretch

at the rl store you can definitely order a size they dont have in stock if you ask an SA nicely

I am in UK, the Liberty Department store guys says the smallest they sell is 30. Retail on this in UK is crazy, 270 pounds, the distressed ones goes for like 350 pounds, and they only have the distressed in Ralph Lauren store on bond street, again the smallest the got is size 30.

I think I would be pretty embarrassed to order something worth 350 pounds w/o even the slightest intention of buying it...

yes, the waist is too big. another problem here is that these jeans are too low rise. you're probably used to wearing regular trousers and so i think you're accustomed to and want a higher rise.

Defo down size mate, pants are best when there's pressure on the fly button but just not enough to make it pop off!!

Hi,

I've learned the hard way to always go as tight as I possibly can. Even if it's uncomfortable, even if I have to suck in my stomach, those are the jeans to buy. Over time, anything that feels, "Oh, good, this fits me fine" comfortable will stretch out, then you have to hold it up with a belt and feel ridiculous. The jeans are no longer comfortable.

You're better off having discomfort first, then breaking them into a fitting pair of jeans. You've gone too tight if they won't even close anymore, but if they close, even if it's tighter than you'd like, keep them.

all right, looks like I will get both 28 and 29, and see which one works out, the ones that doesn't work out will just get flipped here or ebay (also this one in 30 for that matter...). So for guy live in UK, it might be your chance to get RRL on the cheap...
