Thoughts on this chocolate brown flight jacket from Private White?

I think it looks really good with a cream turtleneck underneath as shown on the model but not sure how versatile this colour would be for other casual outfits. Navy would be more versatile but all my other outerwear is navy and it's excluded from the Black Friday sale anyway.

I wear mine a lot (different colour though, light blue tweed melange). They're not the most exciting but are very well made and I find the fit to be spot on - relaxed but still with a bit form about it. If you have any questions about sizing, happy to help, though I think there are a few sites with measurements

Navy would be more versatile yes but brown is not at all far behind. I would definitely get it.

As for the jacket itself I can't recommend it enough, I have it in salt & pepper and the jacket is just lovely.

@Alexidb the auroras look like they would have nicer leather? I also like how unstructured they are.

Lower. I have them, they're good. I think the top leather is better suited to the models with straps. It doesn't look as nice when it's covering the whole front of the shoe. Careful on the sizing with these though. There's only the one strap to keep them on. Mine always feel a little loose.

I’ve usually sized down with Birks, and can still fit a generous sock in with them.

I've got a Nigel Cabourn bomber from a few years ago that's like that. I think brown is actually far more versatile than navy for a piece of outerwear like this. You would have a harder time wearing a navy bomber with jeans, for example.

I’m considering picking some up, it’s between the fawn coloured Birks and the Auroras.

Go with Auroras. And then you can still buy a pair of Birks too if you want—just get one of the $30-50 “used” pairs that often pop up on eBay from someone who wore them twice and hated the footbed.
