That motif would be a lot better in a kitschier color than that - a kelly green or a rusty red, idk. It's no fun in that dark brown palette

I'm not particularly a fan of kitsch knitwear, but as @gdl203 says, that one is neither / nor - it's hard to tell whether it wants to be truly kitsch, is a failed attempt at something respectable, or ia a compromise between the two. Result: an aesthetic mess.

The Todd Snyder x LL Bean is 20% too much for me across the board. Don't have a better way to describe it than "try-hard". Last year's was stronger imo.

If you want a fishing-themed sweater, you can try the Polo Sportsman. Ralph Lauren made the original version through his Polo Country line in the 90s, and then the company re-released it a few years ago. The vintage version runs big and has a smaller chest graphic. The re-released version runs TTS and the graphic is bigger.

You can find both versions on eBay. The aesthetic ends up being a little "streetwear-y" though when worn. At least that's how I read the aesthetic. Kind of Lo-Head-ish. The very large, square graphic also kind of reminds me of 90s streetwear tees.

Reminds me of the decor in my grandparents' cottage from when I was a kid.

What's everyone's go-to belt?

I've realized my go-to (English bridle 1.5 inches with a silver roller buckle) is too heavy now that I'm mixing heritage and tailoring.

Do you mean with tailored clothing? I wear Brooks Brothers belts that I bought about ten years ago. I think they were a great value back then, but don't know how their belts are now.

More like… casual pieces that veer towards tailoring. A couple of Eidos pants. A vintage PRL trouser. A sport coat from 45r. Things like that.

There's a pant from Eidos that is so light that belt feels comically heavy.

Once they introduced a better leather, and a more minimal buckle, I've used a couple of Anson belts in my rotation.
I love the micro-adjust.

I've always tried to buy my belts from small local leather shops wherever I happen to be living. Even the small town I live near now has a leatherworker. The prices are always better and usually you can get exactly the colour, length, width, thickness and hardware you want. If you have that option, I'd really suggest investigating. If you don't, there are actually plenty of good ones on Etsy (seriously - it's not actually a complete joke for crafted stuff).

Hm, I don't know. If I was wearing 45rpm, I think I would maybe choose something from Kika?

Reliquary in San Francisco carries a couple of their belts in ready-made form, which makes it easier to return if things don't work out.

You read my mind! The 1" oval belt has been on my radar since I saw it on Evan Kinori.

Plain, boring linen socks I found on Etsy—though not handcrafted and likely marked up 1000% relative to the price in Ukraine or wherever—were one of my favorite summer purchases. So yea, Etsy is occasionally great.
