To me, the ethos and story of the brand are what draw me to Goros. I think their pieces are also much more aesthetically pleasing than other brands I've seen. But the price to get it outside of Japan is just ridiculous.I wouldn’t buy anything that was an insult to any group, indigenous or otherwise. If it’s a tribute, whether design, music, food, whatever, it’s fair game for me.
Full disclosure: I wear a Goros feather everyday so I pretty much have to double down on my possibly questionable stance here...
This is the exact message I was trying to get across.I'm a tribal citizen and I don't mind non tribal people rocking feathers and beads and what not. Although there is levels to just how "Native" you are. I have spoken to those who do traditional dances wearing traditional regalia who only have issues when non natives go full headdress. The strange thing is there is also certain tribes that hate on other tribes regarding how "native" they really are. In typical hater fashion those tribes are usually the ones that are not doing too good. Its a shame really.
What do you fellas think? In a sea of black and brown wallets I was thinking intense blue with purple stitching.
Shell colors available: Black, Dark cognac, Color#8 Oxblood, Intense Blue, Bourbon
Thread colors available: black, beige, tan, yellow, red, Havana brown, orange, dark green, purple, dark blue, white.
I agree that it wouldn't be good to wear something that offends a group or culture, but I don't know if I think the use of symbols like the eagle and feather by Goros do this. I believe the use of imagery is different from appropriating or replicating traditional garments or styles.
I feel the same about Asian symbols and imagery, most of it isn't offensive to me.
Takahashi did learn from Native groups themselves in his time with them.

What's the story behind you getting your feather and if you just purchased it resell, does it still have meaning to you?
