How about these suede shoes by Sanders?

I've been looking for a pair for a long time. Plain suede bucks are too boring, and I think balmoral lacing is too formal (at least for my first pair of suede).

The price is right ($~225), but I'm wondering whether a similar pair from Alden are worth nearly 2x as much. The pair of Sanders below has a crepe sole, but Sanders are goodyear welted and can be re-soled, right?

Yes they can be re-soled. I'm glad Sanders are starting to get the appreciation they deserve - great bang for the buck (or is it buck for the buck)?

Yo, where can I snag those, really liking them.

A lot of the Uk fashion stores are starting to stock them oi-polloi etc. but www.pediwear.co.uk will probably have the best selection.

Bought a pair of Sanders made McNairy suede bucks last year. Really decent materials and construction and for a decent price. Looking forward to getting them out when the sun comes back!

Thanks for the quick responses! I think I'm going to get the Sanders instead of Aldens.

Anyone have any sizing advice? Should I go a full size down from my US size?

Probably not quite Alden quality (closer to Allen Edmonds). I'm a 12D in Redwing and take an 11 in Sanders so I'd go a whole size down.

I don't know. They've made shoes for McNairy, JCrew amongst others but I don't think they're widely available in the US.

    I typically run b/t a 10.5 and 11 in just about every American shoe, and I wear a UK10/US11 in Sanders/McNairy.
