Besides, a lot of your stuff looks surprisingly similar to me too. I feel it becomes difficult to pair styles together well when I buy too many things that look super different. Thus, if someone says "that looks like a typical BB1 purchase" then I consider that to be a good thing. No different than when we see a leopard print Tornado Mart shirt and everyone calls it an "Uncontrol shirt".

Haha I knew you would come back with this

I don't disagree though! Wasn't saying it to be derogatory, and you seem to have convinced yourself on them already, so just buy them. Jeez.

balenciaga egg bomber. Not sure if it'd fit right on me or if i'd get the right silhouette. Worth the risk?

No worries dude, it's awesome but just not right for most dudes, and assuming that you are indeed straight its a bad look.

Tried on the Balenciaga down jacket for fun yesterday, pretty awesome.
Definitely don't have the wardrobe for it though

So buying a $1000+ big screen TV is more ethically responsible than similarly priced shoes?! I realize you didn't exactly say that, but you're strongly implying so. If you feel you'd enjoy the big TV more (I personally would not), then whom am I to argue? But be prepared to explain why a new $20,000 car is ethical as opposed to public transportation, why a new 3000 sqft home is ethical when a 500 sqft flat might suffice, or why $300 denim is ethical when nice fitting $30 Levi's are readily available. My point is that ethical judgments based on $$$ amounts spent are largely bullshit. Most of them are nothing more than crude judgments based on social norms. Going against social norms is not necessarily unethical.

Well it's different for everyone. I have no debt, own my house (no mortgage), and spend far less than I make every month. So the Augustas are not a financial burden to me. However, that does not mean I am ok with wasting money.

I feel this way all the time with big purchases/when the CC bill starts crawling toward 4 figures.

nah i think both are wrong probably. i havent really figured out what i should think about spending money to be completely honest, which is why my post had a lot of holes in it.

but yeah i actually hate cars (barely can drive and don't really care to learn, the idea of using a 2 ton brick of metal to transport single individuals around while simultaneously destroying the environment never made much sense to me) and big houses (i think small spaces are generally much more well thought out and efficiently organized), so basically the only consumption that i would engage in is clothes and food strangely enough.

but anyway i guess im just in a phase of trying to limit my consumption and be more conscious of what im really doing when im spending. i have a lot of pretty expensive clothing and i definitely enjoy this hobby, but im realizing that from a purely selfish standpoint as well as in the context of understanding how much $xxxx is worth to someone who is not as fortunate my spending habits don't make too much sense

obviously this has not much to do with you, since your financial circumstance is much different from my own, so it was more of a self-directed monologue that was set off because you bought something very similar to something i just got rid of
