Never tried these on and was wondering if it will look okay with stacking of straight and tapered denim.

If you like your sneakers a bit loose get the size up. I wear 10.5 in most sneakers, but since common projects do not make half sizes I opted down to a 10 and they fit very snug (would prefer a bit wider, but they are not uncomfortable, just use to looser sneakers).

I wore through a couple of pairs of nordstrom bucks a few years ago--think they were made in Brazil? They were really pretty solid for <$100 retail. Not sure about the light sole on those, though.

No heel on something immediately takes me into sneaker territory. To me a men's heel is never feminine unless it's a Cuban/pitched heel. Things get awkward when you have a regular heel over 1" because it looks like you're trying to be taller a la your shoe. Ideally a heel should be .5-.75".
