Should I get waist suppression (with picture)?

I just got a new 36R RLBL suit, and the shoulders are good, but the waist is a bit loose. Is it a good idea to get waist suppression, and if so, anybody have any idea what the appropriate way to do waist suppression is...should I ask the tailor to take it in from the back or the sides? I just wanna make sure not to ruin the suit! Thanks in advance

Definitely not.

As it is, the suit is already slim, if you take the waist in, the lapels will start to bow out even more.

That is a good point, I didn't realize that could happen. Now I don't think there is much bowing at the moment unless I fasten both buttons. What if I were to just barely take it in?

it would look ridiculous if you were to take the suit in. you have an athletic built and the suit looks good as is.

get the slacks hemmed and wear a better fitting shirt (i.e. longer sleeves) underneath and you are set.

Thanks guys, I probably won't be touching the jacket then. I'll just get the pants hemmed. I don't know much about suits, so this was really helpful.

You already look very lanky. Keep it as is.

There is nothing worse than very fitted clothing on men with little to fit to.

i always thought that better fitting clothes made you look less lanky, but what do i know. The fit on the shoulder of this suit is just perfect, I just wish the waist was a just little more taken in, but I can see how that can make the whole look ridiculous. One thing is for sure, this suit is lot slimmer than the fitzgerald 36R that I own.

The difference between the shoulders and the waist is already quite large, any more could start to look ridiculous.
