The sleeves feel long

If I cuff 'em at 3 inches this is how they look.

Is the shirt length to long? Do I get it shorten and how by how many inches?

It's a Rodd & Gunn shirt:

Honestly, by the time you pay for alterations you might be better off just buying a shirt that is cut to be worn that way.

Is it true that some shirts are cut to be worn untucked and others aren't?
I like to wear shirts untucked in informal social situations such as pub or barbecue at someone's house. Because shirt tucked in just feels too stuffy for those sorts of situations. But most of my button-up shirts, being items I have bought to wear with suits or tailored jackets, don't feel great to wear untucked. Too long (I'm just about average height). And basically feel like they give off the vibe of "half-dressed" when untucked rather than relaxed and stylish.
What are some good brands or retailers to look to for shirts that are designed to be worn untucked?

1) All men lose untucked shirt privileges past the age of 20. Grown-ups tuck in their shirts. You can fight me on this now but you'll come to accept it in time.

2) You look to be carrying a few pounds. Tucking will emphasize the waist line a little more but it's better to look neat and put together rather than sloppy.

3) The shirt doesn't fit. Armholes too low and sleeves are blousy. Return it.

4) Welcome to SF.

I don't accept your silly untuck shirt rule so please don't waste your time. Welcome to the real world, not everybody agrees.

Rule or no rule, I would only wear an untucked shirt on the beach, preferably a linen one. As for the specific shirt, I would use it to shine my shoes (my apologies for being direct).

Welcome to getting older, (hopefully) wiser and coming to understand that untucked shirts make you look like an unruly 12 year-old at a wedding.

I’m not sure

Why are you being such a prick? You’re getting opinions from people. The shirt is not that special. Isn’t that brand all over the place at Bloomies?

Take it to an alterations tailor and see what can be done. There are other shirt brands meant to be worn untucked.

As for looking like a slob, that’s your business. Dress as you like.

Nothing wrong with wearing a shirt untucked in many casual situations. You need to shorten the length by a couple of inches to slightly below half way down zip. Get the sleeves shortened a little (gets more complcated if you shorten them a lot) and maybe move the button in to make the cuff narrower so it doesn't fall down your hand.

A respectful answer without making a rude/snobbish comment about my shirt.

Everybody is awful these days. It's enough to make anyone crazy.

Thank You and stay safe out there.I took it in already and the tailor did a beautiful job on my shirt.

Again thank you

You asked a reasonable question; it deserved a reasonable response. Forget the negativity and enjoy your shirt.
