Should I get a J.Crew Ludlow Suit or BR monogram?

The BR and J. Crew stuff is way overpriced unless they are on steep sales (even for $400 they are probably overpriced compared to other stuff).

Would recommend checking out Yoox. I'm about the same size as you (slightly shorter) and over the last month I grabbed a solid charcoal Corneliani leader, a solid light grey Caruso, and most recently a solid navy Costume National Homme (mainline) suit from Yoox. All were half canvassed, slim-fitting, and around $400-450 each. Quality on these will blow away the monogram or ludlow lines.

The most difficult jacket alteration is the shoulders. Get the one with the best fitting shoulders. You can do better on-line but must know your clothing measurements. Shoulders are more critical than chest. If you look on-line, you may want to check out the Benjamins at ehaberdasher.com.

I didn't say the lining was crap. However they were made caused a distinct rustling with movement, Bemberg or not. This is based on owning three jackets. Hopefully this is no longer the case.

You got a good deal. Enjoy!
