Should a man dress better or equal to his female date

Should a man dress better or equal to his female date? I was at dinner tonight and I notice this stunning blonde wearing a tight black summer dress. It wasn't a formal dress, but a step up from her date. I was thinking, should a man dress at least as formal, if not better, than his female date?

If both are dressed to the occasion, how do you judge who is dressed better? I think it's too subjective.

That's a good question. I am sure the experts here can give an objective criteria.

A man can be dressed well but shouldn't upstage the date. Unless he doesn't care for a second date.

Equal to.

Inequality of dress both looks and feels awkward.

Sounds like they were almost equal in todays non-SF world.

Otherwise he would need a coat and tie.

+1, this is a world of fedoras, spectator shoes and bow ties. In the real world people dress like the dude with the hot blonde.

Her skirt was so tight the zipper was stretched out.

A lot of women prefer to look better than men when out in public. I've had too many women I know for years say, "I saw you but did not say hi because I felt you would not respond."

Surprisingly, it only happens when I sport a suit.

The smart guy with the hot blonde dresses like Tony Soprano and laughs at the guys who try too hard.
