So I'm going to be doing the New York Bar Exam next July and am also taking the opportunity to take a couple months off work to relax / travel for a bit. The current vague plan is, to move to New York (or someplace in the region) sometime next April/May, take barbri and study on the weekdays, short road trips on the weekend, with the bar at the end of July and MPRE in mid-August, then move home after. Only problem is the possibilities and options are many, so would appreciate thoughts on the following:

    (1) Where to stay? Would rather not live in Manhattan or any of the boroughs, have been living in a big city all my life and would like a change (but of course, would like to visit on the weekends, so not too far out). Am still trying to debate whether to take the barbri onsite (which would limit me to places like Albany and Buffalo, places which I understand most people wouldn't voluntarily choose to stay) or online, which then greatly increases the possibilities. Obviously I will need to be in Albany at the end of July, so anything within a two to three hour drive should work fine. NE Pennsylvania, western Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Conneticut. Daunting, to say the least.

    (2) How to find short term furnished accomodation? I've looked at airbnb, which is promising, but am curious as to what other options there are available. Preferably someplace that is not an apartment..

    (3) Recommendations for long term car rental? Will probably be 3-4 months, nothing fancy. This is of course on the assumption I live someplace that is not in the big city. Or will any of the regular big rental places work?

Right now these are just vague questions I have in my head without any real structure, so would also appreciate any advice on how I should do things. Thanks guys.
