Short sleeve BDs are great. Rolling up the sleeves on long sleeved BDs is often too constricting and hot near the bicep because of all the extra material. I picked up a few for cheap at Club Monaco and I'm happy with them. Not the greatest quality, but the shirts I've bought from them have held up for many years and they're nice and slim.

i am in need of some short sleeve button downs. they need to be affordable. ben sherman looks cool but a little pricey. any other recommendations?

The answer you are looking for is Penguin. They have a terrific variety of short sleeve button downs, plus everything they sell is in a slim vintage fit. You can find them in any Filene's Basement or TJ Maxx for less than $30.

I guess I just don't like the look of them. I can't help but think of it as bro wear :p Reminds me of Quicksilver, Billabong, and other Pac Sun brands.

I love S/S button downs. Perfect for hot days, I especially like linen, so cool, light, and breezy.

I've never heard/scene Penguin. Have any photos?
I love to wear Ben Sherman ss shirts in the summer. The 50/50 blend is perfect for bars.

I both roll my l/s shirts and wear s/s buttondowns. On a truly hot day, especially if it's humid, rolling a l/s is not at all comparable to wearing a s/s. VENTILATION, people.

Whoa, how have you not heard of Penguin? They're everywhere ...

Anyway, here is a link to their short-sleeve button down shirts:

The full retail prices on the website are ridiculous, just find them at discount at Macy's or Filene's.

Im getting some Button Down Shirts made from my designs by a local clothes maker. I haven't seen any that I really like in stores.
