Any suggestions what type of jeans a guy with short legs (waist 31 inch, length 30 inch) should look for? Low rise? Bootcut? Brands? Models for LEVI/DIESEL/HUGO BOSS/etc?

Step 1 get a hold of pants.
Step 2 try on pants and see if it is to your liking.
Step 3 repeat 1 and 2 until you find what you like

Finding the right pair of jeans tends to have more to do with your overall build, rather than just the length of your leg.

From my experience the trick is to draw attention away from my legs and make them look as slim as possible:

- Straight/slim leg
- Unwashed and undistressed
- Avoid any back-pocket stitching
- If they fit comfortably they’re too big—jeans stretch out
- Don’t rule out brands that only do a 32" or 34" leg—you can get them hemmed
- Pay attention to your thighs, make sure there isn’t too much material in there
- Pull them up, don’t let them sag
- Absolutely no bootcuts

As far as something you can pick up anywhere, Levis 511 are okay, but I found them a bit baggy in the thigh after a few months of wear (28"). I’ve been really happy with my A.P.C. New Standards (I sized down to a 26", you’ll probably be looking at a 28").
