Well - back from three days in Chicago. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

1 Brioni Sportcoat - $4,100 retail
1 Brioni Cashmere sweater - $1000 retail
1 pair Zanella linen pants - $245 retail
1 pair Zanella wool dress pants - $295 retail
1 pair Luciana Barbera pants - $450 retail
1 Ike Behar tie - $80 retail (I just liked it, ok?)

Anyway, my deals weren't ebay caliber discount, but I did pretty well overall.

To all who recommended Morris & Sons - 1000 Thanks!!!!!!

I have to recommend "Mike" at Morris & Sons. He was not overbearing. He was very helpful. He found the best deals available in the store for me. Everything but the Zanella wool pants and the tie came from Mike. I'm sure one can get better prices off ebay, but I felt like I got great deals AND great service. They're even putting real buttonholes in the Brioni sportcoat for me.

Thanks again for everyone's recommendations. I'll post some pictures when I get the clothes after the alterations are complete.

25% of retail or 25% off retail? 25% of retail sounds like ebay caliber.

And 25% off of retail doesn't sound like that great a deal, considering all the big department stores go wayyy below that at the end of their summer sales.

Yes - I paid 25% OF retail. That's 75% OFF retail. The Brioni sportcoat was $1050 on a retail of $4100. The Brioni cashmere was $150 on a retail of $1000.

June and January. People fly in from all over for their sales. They have an excellent selection of outerwear, shearlings, leathers and such. Years ago they were even better, before competition from Filene's (and the proliferation of outlet stores) for the inventories of the high end stores.

You should call Morris&Sons and ask them to put you on their mailing list. I've gotten their fliers for sometime even if I haven't purchased anything in years.

Glad you liked Morris & Sons! I shop with Mike as well - nice guy, leaves you alone, but is there to help if necessary.
