I'm going up to the NYC area for a college visit sometime in the next week or two, are there any stores that you guys would definitely recommend?

Edit: I did a search before posting this thread. I was hoping for current things, maybe must-see F/W collections or great sales coming up, though I guess I will just read the Manhattan sales thread for that.

Tribeca-Soho area: Opening Ceremony, OAK, maybe the JCrew Liquor Store if you're into that...depending on when you go, some nasty sales could be going down...the area near those stores is one of my favorite places to go. There's a JV boutique, a What Goes Around Comes Around, Ted Baker, J Lindberg...too much for me to even think of.

For cheaper stuff, I think nearby off of Washington there's a Rugby and a Reiss...

There is a shitload of info on this stuff, the stuff above is just what first comes to mind. Certainly do research.

EDIT: I didn't mention any big dept stores like Saks, Bloomingdales, Barneys, Bergdorf etc, most of which can be around midtown though you may want to avoid all those aside from Barneys anway...

Just got back from NY. Was super impressed with the Billy Reid store on Bond. Great staff and good clothes. Specific obviously but definitely worth checking out. Only store I bought something from this trip.

I would take you up on that offer, but I am going up with my sister and I don't know how she feels about e-friends. Maybe next time.

There's a relatively new Rag & Bone store on Christopher Street in the West Village.
