Shopping in Ireland

I'm going to be visiting Ireland (Galway mostly, some Dublin), are there any shopping opportunites I should'nt pass up ?.

Any Bespoke shoe makers in the area ?

Grafton St. in the City Centre has a Brown Thomas that is likely to carry some high-end shoes and suits. As far as smaller tailors, etc., I am not sure. I have visited Dublin many-a-times and must say that is has a quite poor shopping scene as larger European cities go. Either way, all shopping is in City Centre: St. Stephen's Green, Jarvis Street, Grafton St., Temple Bar, etc. etc. all within walking distance from each other. If worse comes to worse, inquire with someone at Brown Thomas, they are very knowledgeable and will surely be able to lead you in the right direction.

If these posts and previous posts on this topic are accurate, then "Ireland shopping" is an oxymoron.
Surely, there are some successful shopping trips to Ireland.

I was in Galway a few years ago and was told there is, or was, a fine bespoke tailor in the town of Broadway near Shannon who specializes in riding clothes.

The aforementioned Brown Thomas is also in Cork.

Anyone shopping in Ireland should prepare themselves for prices that are ~20% more expensive than UK and continental European prices and at least ~30% more expensive than US prices. For example, the cheapest pair of 7FAM in my local Brown Thomas is €280.

Don't know about Dublin or Shannon, but I got these in Cork: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=30289

I got them from Molloy's in Cork, but I don't know if they have branches anywhere else.

All I know is that if your in Galway you MUST go to this little Italian resuraunt there. It's the only one in town and the name escapes me, but it is incredible. Just as good as being in Italy!

The best place to shop in Ireland is online. The second best place to shop in Ireland is C21 in Manhattan, to judge by the number of Irish accents I hear over here. You know all the horror stories and moaning we hear from Canadians about shopping there? Ireland's worse.

That said, if you have to shop somewhere, Brown Thomas, Michael Barrie and Louis Copeland are good places to start in Dublin, and there's a Massimo Dutti store in Dundrum. You can forget about shoes, though; go to England.
