Any sartorial suggestions for shopping in Brussels? Have to be there later this week, and aside from chocolate...?

The prices in general won't be good, so why not check out stores you won't find elsewhere, such as Olivier Strelli's boutique on Ave. Louise? JM Weston is near there too for shoes. The time to go to Brussels would be in January, when the sales start. But I'm sure others will have thoughts of their own too.

I believe De Gand is a quality shop.

Environment of 'Porte de Namur' and 'Boulevard de Waterloo' :
De Vlaeminck, Delvaux, Natan, Faconnable , etc ... (it is all concentrated in that corner).
300- 400 Yards to walk and you've seen all the 'chique' Brussels has to offer.

A stroll on the Avenue Louise and in its close vicinity would allow you to discover a good deal of the best men's stores in Brussels.

I would suggest (in no particular order):

- Degand, high-end retailer at the end of the Avenue Louise, close to the Bois de la Cambre (website). The most upscale store in Brussels, very nice shoes, accessories, suits, shirts, and all the like. Pricey, though. Sole Edward Green retailer in Belgium.
- Crossword, next to the Hotel Conrad on the Avenue Louise ( website) - they stock Etro, Hilditch & Key, Incotex, Hogan, and all the like (mixed English and Italian stuff). Three shops in the same neighborhood, ask for directions at this one or see on their website.
- Bouvy (website) - the Brussels Brooks Brothers. Nice casual stuff, good ties. Poorer in shoes.
- De Vlaminck (website) - mainly suits and shirts. A little less traditional and more fashion-forward than the others, but still very reasonable.

De Vlaminck is on the Boulevard de Waterloo (very close to the Avenue Louise) where you'll find Hermès, Ralph Lauren, Façonnable, Tod's, Gucci, and all the likes. Expect no lower prices than in any other European capital.

On the same Boulevard de Waterloo, pay a visit to Delvaux (website), the local Hermès, specially praised for its purses, wallets, bags, etc.

If you tell us in which area you'll be I can maybe point you to some other shops worth a visit.

Gosh. I spent 6 six years living less than five minutes from Degand, and I never set foot in the place.

Thanks all for your kind suggestions. They´re what make this forum special.

I´ll be staying at Le Meridien at 3 Carrrefour de l´Europe, not far from the Grand Place (I believe).

I´m particularly intrigued by any local brands to the extent they exist in this globalized world.

Many thanks, again.

Try also to visit the 'St-Hubertusgalery'.
(shoes, chocolat, Delvaux, Van Schel).
It is near the Grand Place (100 yards).
Environment is wonderfull (Grasmarkt)
