I'm flying up to Baltimore for a few days this week. I will be staying downtown. I would be interested in hearing about any shopping opportunities, preferably sales, discount places, outlets, etc.

Also, any hat shops would be terrific.

Thanks, guys.

Not much. There is a Filene's Basement downtown that seems to get the cream of their merchandise for the Baltimore area. There is a custom tailor (Victor Pascal I think is his name) downtown as well, but I've never been into his shop. There is a Sak's Off-5th and a Nieman Marcus Last Call at Arundel Mills Mall, but that's in the burbs about 20-25 minutes south of town.

If you like Italian food, go to La Scala, order the Valdoastana or butterfly veal chop, and gnocci alla vodka, and tell them I sent you.

There's Gian Marco Menswear, they import from Italy:

Although, not really a place for discounts. (Don't ask me why the website is a .org, have no clue).

As for hats, you can go to Hats in the Belfry:

Not a bad selection, might find something you like there. Also, it's on the harbor (the harbor place location), so since you're downtown, you'll probably be quite close.

And Filene's Basement in Baltimore is okay, but nothing special. The Gallery mall has a Brooks Brothers if you're interested. And that about sums it up.
