shoplifters of the world, unite and take over!

but seriously, this is an issue we all face in retail, the only way to handle this is to better train your employees, there will always be runners which can't be stopped, but if you can teach your employees about what here in the states is called "increased customer service" it shouldn't be an issue, just stay up their fucking ass and bring attention to the shit they're trying to steal or have in their bag.

    You people are racists!

Like it's all their fault?! You can really overreact. It's just a few bad ones, every race, every culture got those...

I say kill the bad ones, survival of the fittest.

Last week I caught 2 boys by myself who tried to steal, they're just 14 years old!?

Where is the world going to?

What did you do with them Vincent? 14 or not, I hope you prosecuted them to the fullest extent of the law. If word gets around that you are a permissive shop owner, everyone in the neighborhood is going to take a shot.

Also, put up one of those dumb "Free ride in the back of a cop car for all shoplifters" they catch peoples attention.

I'm pretty sure my employee's are clean...

true story: someone bought a handbag from this brand thats pretty much on top of the food chain, from their store here. she found herself in the same shop in another country and was told her handbag was a fake... so they investigated and it was discovered that the some of the store employees were passing along fake bags and selling the real ones on the side. of course this was completely covered up and the press was told to keep it quiet.

Hire a bouncer/securityguard/executioner to stand by the door with black fatigues and black leather gloves on!

Operate like a shoe store. Only put one of any model of item out, and make customers ask a staff member if they want to try something on.

when it is seen as accepted by society to steal music, movies and software, why should there be a problem with shoplifting honestly?

Yeah because piracy is equivalent to stealing actual tangible goods from a store. [IMG]

Yes. Why should stealing intellectual property be any different from stealing tangible property? It's precisely this type of thinking that has led to rampant piracy and its acceptability.

There's a difference between copying and stealing. If I steal a pair of jeans, the shop owner no longer has that pair of jeans. If I download an album, the band/label still has the album. Now I'm not saying piracy is okay, but faulty comparisons are no help to anyone.
