I am in the process of rebuilding parts of my wardrobe from the ground up this summer, and Ive set a fairly tight budget for myself.

Just as an example of what can be done with some fairly careful shopping, Ive managed to put together the following:

1. Peal & Co. Brown Captoes, new, from the BB Clearance sale
2. Black AE Cliftons, pre owned, like new from ebay
3. Black AE Garner Monkstraps, nice shape from Ebay
4. Black AE LLoyd Wingtips, nice shape from ebay
5. Brown Suede AE McNeils, new in box from AE seconds-- no visible flaws, fit perfectly
6. Chili AE Byrons, new in box from AE seconds-- no visible flaws, fit perfectly
7. AE Saddle shoes in Black and Burgundy, nice shape from ebay

and 7 pairs AE shoe trees.

Total cost: $780.00

Not absolutely bargain basement, but certainly budget minded...

Very well done. For what Portnoy spends on laces, you picked up 7 very respectable shoes.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
