One day in New York City to visit Morandi and Calder shows so will be in Madison Avenue area - like to buy a pair of shoes on each trip to New York - usually visit Lobb and Lattanzi but would like to try some new places if anyone can offer much-welcomed suggestions; can I view Bontoni in this area and are they any shoe stores either off the beaten path or stores that carry shoes a little bit out of the ordinary - thank you very much, comments appreciated.

As far as I know, Bergdorf Goodman Men is the exclusive retailer of Bontoni in New York City. I've seen the Bontoni collection at Bergdorf and they are worth checking out. I first found out about Bontoni after reading a feature posted on Men's Vogue's website

Wilkes Bashford, Stanley Korshak, Lawrence Covell, Mario's, and Garys (I believe) also sell Bontoni.

Leffot *does* have a nice selection. And Gaziano & Girling are in town doing a trunk show at their hotel. I'm stopping by on Saturday to take a peek (I put in an order when they were in town a month ago).

+1 for Leffot. I've stopped in a couple times. I can't bring myself to spend quite that much (yet), but if you're ok with full retail, they have a great selection and great service. www.leffot.com
