Shoes: Business Casual with Chinos...

I'm specifically looking for brown. What would you suggest?

Is suede too casual?

Any styles better than others? I personally dislike loafers and other slip ons. I prefer laces.

What are your suggestions? Specific shoes/brands would be helpful. I'm looking to spend under $200 as well.

I suggest you abandon this quest by abandoning your chinos during business casual days at the office. If there's anything that broadcasts lack of imagination and style, its the chino at the office. There are casual trousers for both summer and winter that do the job with infinitely more style

There is nothing inherently wrong with chinos. This is especially true of various coloured chinos. I think you are picturing triple-pleated balloon-seat stain-resistant dockers and grouping all chinos into the same horrendous thought.

I disagree. Pants in general are really the most basic wardrobe item. No one cares one way or the other about them and they do not indicate much. Plus, slim fitting, flat front ones look great IMO. Just get a variety of colors (not just tan/khaki), and play around with shirt, tie, jacket, sweaters, and shoes... can be just fine.

But I'm curious as to the pants, which to me are where you need no imagination, just great fit, that you would suggest instead?

Anyway, any more suggestions for shoes (or even dress boots)?

I also am actually on the look out for at least one pair with RUBBER sole. I am in NY and it rains, in the winter, it snows. I will be walking. I am not buying expensive shoes to ruin them and have them resoled all the time because I wear them in conditions they were not meant for...

You said no slip-ons, but I quite like chelsea boots for this sort of attire. RMWs in brown kangaroo, for example, have great texture. Although that's going to be a bit over your price. I have these, and they're functional, if you're not particularly seeking elegance. I'm thinking that one pair I want to get is something like this:

I love captoe, and these in suede with brogue look great. Anyone know what these are and how much? Or perhaps something similar if those are too expensive? And also looking for a captoe dress boot as well in dark brown. Then perhaps one more pair. At least one of them I'd like rubber soles too, just for winter and rain.

^Ha, worded that wrong. The suede shoes would be leather. Since definitely would not wear them in bad weather anyway, lol.

I meant for the boots or the other pair I want to get, one of those would need to be rubber... gotta have something for the rain and snow. It'll probably end up being the boots perhaps.

Agree. Plus, they are considered "dressy" in the IT world...

Get some three holer doc marten shoes. I have them I'm black and cherry red and got a cherry red belt to match in Fossil. The red ones only come with the yellow stitching so I blacked it out with a magic marker then black shoe polish. Will fit the need for your winter shoes and look fine with khakis etc.

Way too clunky. And as a result of clunkiness... also too casual and IMO a bit ugly. Thank you for suggestion though.
