Shoe Tree Question

I wear a size 8 shoe and recently found a good deal on Woodlore shoe trees in size medium. When I put these into some of my shoes, they are collapsed almost as short as they can be. Will this stretch my shoes at all? Would I be better suited with smaller trees or am I ok as long as the shoe trees fit into the shoe?

It depends on the shoe. Some loafers without heel counters, for example, will be stretched. You'll be able to see what's happening and act accordingly.

I use wood shoe trees for almost every pair of my shoes.

It keeps the shape of the shoe.

If your shoes are US size 8, size small Woodlore shoe trees will fit well.

All except my sneakers (or some older shoes I don't care much for, such as Steve Madden loafers I seldom use). But I do use trees for some Puma 96 hour leather sneakers, which I regard as dressier and think benefit from the use of trees.

I would if you have extras (I always seem to find a couple), or buy a pair that sells for no more than $20.

I'm assuming the boots you mentioned are leather.

Yes, they're the 1911s that people have posted over in the Red Wing thread in streetwear. I'll head over to Filene's tomorrow to pick up a pair of the mass produced shoe trees they have for like $11. I just hope no stretching occurs as these shoes fit slightly large, though I do normally wear my shoes a tad large as my feet widen toward the toes and exact fits cause pinky toe blisters. I think I've divulged way TMI. Carry on.

as a size 8 you should have gotten small woodlores.

but unless you can see stitching under strain, you should be okay.

For me, it's all my dress (i.e. used for work) shoes. Hiking and motorcycle boots exempt.

Edit: I used to get mine from Macy's when they sold them for $15 (all cedar) ... the ones around me no longer carry them so I'll have to look elsewhere.
