I understand from reading the shoe Appreciation threads that you can tell if a shoe is improperly sized by the way it creases, but I don't really understand what the rules are. I measure a US12D, but I have a pair of Cole Haan shoes (not SF approved I know, but it was a pre-SF purchase) in that size that have multiple large creases. I'd like to get my actual size sorted out before I purchase some C&J Handgrades.

Trying them on cannot be beaten for making sure they are the right size.

The leather and the last have a part to play in whether, or how, creases develop. If the last is too high in the forepart and/or the leather heavy then large creases will be the result.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll try to hunt down a place where I can try them on.
