Wow those are some of my favourite shoes - classic lasts and designs with that extravagant French colouration.

How do they create a lighter colored spot on a dark shoe?

Haha.. I still plan to try his method. I have a pair of surprisingly elegant AE bluchers in a boring reddish brown color and I just need to order up the red dye.

Does anyone have Marc Guyot shoes, and particularly, can anyone tell me about these beauties? I'm going to Europe this summer, and plan to start my nice dress shoe collection. I plan to pick up a pair of C&Js and VASS (maybe 2 pairs), then I see these. I really hope i don't drop 2Gs on shoes.

j,
Wasn't there a post by Guyot that had a description in English about that process he is illustrating. What he did to clean the original finish, how he removed some of the black dye, how he did the polishing, etc. The accompanying words really did add to the understanding of the process. Perhaps the post went into cyberspace with the crash?
