I like the look of these shoes. They might be crappy Cole Haans, but I don't know. Based on the pictures, is it possible to tell the construction? Is the stitching on the bottom decorative, or is there legitimate welting? Thanks for any help and/or instruction you can provide.

Most likely Blake stitched since it's so far from the edge.

Nothing is bad about Blake if it's done properly. It's much more popular in Italy than the rest of the world. Many SF approved names use Blake like \tSutor Mantellassi, Romano Martegani, Berluti... though their highest graded shoes are often Goodyear.

They might not be. Are they vintage? I have a few pairs of vintage Cole Haans (Made in England and Made in the US) that are way nicer than anyone would expect from only knowing Cole Haans current offerings.

From my main rotation, I have one pair of blake stitched shoes and there is nothing wrong with the construction. I have owed them for over 18 months, the 'tear' is not different to my others and Church's will resole them. If you like the Cole Haans and think they are a good price, get them. They look a lot better than my Russell & Bromley mock-croc patent leather single monks that I paid full retail for a few years ago and worn about 3 times

Those remind me of the vintage Cole Haans in that pictorial thread about shoe restoration.
