    This is a great site for those interested in the techniques and equipment used to make custom footwear; however, do note that virtually all the posters are Bootmakers, not shoemakers.

    Well, they are British "bootmakers;" in Britain, I believe the term bootmaker is synonymous with what in America we would call shoemaker. Â The overwhelming majority of their output is shoes, not boots. What I meant in my comment is the participants on the Crispin Colloquy make boots pretty much exclusively, typically in the "cowboy" boot style. Â This has a number of implications, since a number of the techniques and/or materials for making cowboy boots are quite different from that of bespoke shoes, including: pattern making, heel heights, last measument, leather weight, and sole attachment.
