Some say shoes should never be lighter than your trousers. Have any of you heard that?

I don't agree with that.

I've worn walnut shoes with dark blue trousers and thought it looked good.

I really like dark suede with brown

Yeah I think dark brown on dark brown looks great. Suede is a good option as a little texture breaks it up but I wouldn't hate on anyone for going with a lighter suede. That said, Dark brown suede with dark brown corderouy does look great, I like the continuous texture it gives. (Just a wee side note)
