    All,
Someone here posted that isopropyl alcohol can be used to clean shoes - well I have one of my favorite Johnston and Murphy's with this *strange* dark stain on them. Nothing has been spilled on them or used to polish other than shoe cream, but when I tried to clean them with saddle soap the toes suddenly turned dark. It didn't seem to be a stain as whatever is/was on the shoes would "move around". So I started in patiently (trembling hands!) with alcohol and slowly the gunk seems to be coming off.

    *Whew*

Don't know if they are going to be perfect, but still very wearable, esp with jeans.

    So Thanks Gang.

(and btw - this is my first post, and am waiting on my first Jantzen shirt).

    Welcome to the forum!

So you are already well acquainted with two of the main obsessions here: shirts from Jantzen and the antiquing of shoes.
