I see lots of pores. Top grain or full grain. I can't imagine they put all that care of construction and finishing into anything but full grain materials.

They certainly know how to airbrush some dye. I get that not everyone loves this effect. And when it's done poorly it can indeed look pretty bad.

However, everything I've seen from Meccariello so far looks great to me.

The boots look great. I would think they will be good for wet London winter weather. Big commando sole will keep you up off the sidewalks/wet and dark suede can take a lot of abuse and still look presentable.

It's also becuase we're used to seeing aniline dyed leather, not crust leather. If you check out the leather St Crispin uses it has a similar look to it.

Also, the glossyness is just part of the way the Italians finish their shoes; it's seen as good customer service. It comes off in a few wearings so it's not a big deal if you don't like it.
